It was a privilege to support the wonderful work of the Tyne Rivers Trust in being selected for their calendar cover shot for 2018. Articles on ran in The Journal and in the Hexham Courant.
"STRIKING images of the River Tyne across the district feature in the latest fund-raising calendar to be produced by the Corbridge-based Tyne Rivers Trust. The 2018 glossy edition is made up of 12 pictures taken by keen photographers from across the North-East and showcases everything from the fish quay at North Shields to Lambley Viaduct, near Haltwhistle.
But it was an image of the River Tyne taken from the Newcastle/
Gateshead quayside, created using a photography technique known as painting with light, which was chosen as the front cover star.
The picture was taken by amateur photographer Norma McKellar from North Tyneside who goes by the name of ‘Sheerlight’ for her photography.
The effect is created by illuminating parts of the scene with a torch or other light during a long exposure to create art by light patterns.

The calendar’s production costs have been covered by Egger, the chipboard factory which sits alongside the River Tyne at Hexham.
Tobias Zimmermann, plant director technical/production at the factory, said: “We are delighted to continue to support the good work that Tyne Rivers Trust undertakes. Its commitment to improving the Tyne for people is a good match to our sustainable and environmental commitment at Egger.”
